Bogie is a spritely terrier mix. He is rightfully named after the dashing Humphrey Bogart. Being a rescue dog, his exact birthdate is unknown but, he is about 3years old. His mom, Fran Needham, loves walking him. You can often find Bogie chasing his ball. It is by far his favorite Toy. If you don’t see Bogie standing on his hind legs to entertain others, then he is doing it to beg for food.
Cleopatra, “Cleo”, is a 13-year-old tri-color Basenji. Cleo is from a breeder in Beaumont, California. While she spends all of her time with Dean, it was his late wife that Cleo originally bonded with. They chose each other. True to her breed, Cleo is very active. In her younger days, she was an avid hunter. One of Dean’s favorite memories is of Cleo jumping a six-foot wall to snatch a cat out of the air. She was very diligent about patrolling the yard for cats and birds. Chasing frisbees for treats kept her agile. Now Cleo spends her time staying fit by walking regularly with Dean around the community with occasional visits to the dog park.
KeKe is a luxurious calico cat. Her exact birthdate is unknown however, she is approximately 5 years old. KeKe started her life with Chuck and Dottie by wandering the grounds of their home. Most of the time she could be found hiding under their pickup truck. Chuck and Dottie knew they had gained her trust when one day, they opened their door and she strolled on in. KeKe has two great joys in life; playing with her giant yarn ball and sitting on the blue recycle bin. Most importantly, KeKe has taken over the their bed because, “She is the boss.”
Lilly is a beautiful silky Shih Tzu. She is about six years old however, her exact birthdate is unknown. Lilly is technically a rescue dog. When Mavis initially went to the pound she had no luck finding a match. On her way out, a sweet lady saw Mavis and offered her Lilly as a gift. It was a match! Lilly can be found trailing Mavis on walks. Sometimes she will trail so far behind on her lead that she gets stuck on the other side of the doors when they close. At one time Lilly used to enjoy swimming. Now she prefers visiting her friends at the Canyon Mobile Park where she and Mavis used to live.
Sable is a beautiful Egyptian Abyssinian cat. She was born October 1, 2003. Acquired from Northern California breeders, Sable has spent her entire life with her mother, Charlotte Werner. Her favorite activities to pass the time are eating and rambunctiously exploring her apartment. Sable has a unique affinity for people that she welcomes everyone with a kiss. This has earning her the nick-name “Kissy Girl”.
Sammy is a mixed breed rescue cat. His exact birthdate is unknown however, he is approximately 10 years old. His life with Marilyn Peterson started when he was very young. Sammy wandered around her home gaining trust with Marilyn as she fed him and allowed him to come to her on her terms. Today Sammy is Marilyn’s “pal” and they love each other very much.
Teddy Bear, aka “Teddy”, is a beautiful silver Miniature Schnauzer. He was born August 14th, 2012 and found a home with John and Rosemarie when he was about 2 months old. His favorite past times are to play catch with his pumpkin squeeze toy, meeting other pets and meeting people. If he isn’t playing catch, he is playing “take away” and “tug-o-war”. Teddy is well trained at sitting, coming, standing and shaking hands on command for a treat. As well trained as Teddy is, he is also a runner. Don’t leave the door open or he will be gone in a flash!
Tootsie and Davey can only be described as “siblings”. They belong to Henry “Herb” Wilkins and bring a tremendous amount of joy to their “dad”. They can be seen being both playful and protective.
Davey is a long haired chihuahua mix. His parents were also owned by the Wilkins. He is one out of five in the litter and was born October of 2004 in San Dimas, California. One of his favorite past times is chasing ball.

Christmas morning Irene, Herb’s late wife, opened her front door to find a blond short haired chihuahua tied to the railing. She was a gift from her niece. A few days earlier the Wilkins’ niece found the pup tied to a lamp post in front of a Bank of America in the rain. In the 1920’s a popular term for a “lady of the street” was Tootsie. From that day on their little Christmas gift was known as Tootsie.
Ziggy is a gregarious Wheaton Scotty. He was born in 2008 from a breeder in Desert Hot Springs and has been with his mom, Betty Cody, ever since. Some of Ziggy’s favorite past times are singing, his tennis ball, running and eating. He loves eating. On his “down” time you can find Ziggy getting his hair brushed and combed, chewing on his neon green dental biscuit or nestling into Betty during cuddle time. Everything about Ziggy is adorable from the way he looks up at Betty when he wants to go outside to the way he talks to her. “He is just out of this world. Amazing!”
